The Space
Originally built in 1970, the A-Frame received a facelift in August of 2019. We opted to infuse the cabin with a modern feel while preserving the original charm and 70's era quirks. Clean paint and bright lighting have enhanced the angles, beams and stonework through out highlighting App A-Frame's rustic beginnings. The entire home has been thoughtfully outfitted to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Don't let the exterior deceive you! App A-Frame has three spacious levels, each with a bedroom and bathroom to offer privacy to our guests. The front entrance located on the main level features the first bedroom with a King bed. A full bath along with the kitchen, dinning and main living areas are also on this floor. Off of this living room we have a large deck with a 6 person hot tub, out door dining area and gas grill. The second bedroom with a Queen bed is located upstairs in the loft, has a half bath and its own balcony facing the woods. The third bedroom and second full bath are located downstairs on the lower level. This bedroom was designed with kids in mind, has four single beds with two being on trundles. The basement also has a living area with wet bar and a Multicade featuring 60 of your favorite classic arcade games like Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and Galaga just to name a few.
Both living areas are equipped with Smart TVs that have access to Netflix and Youtube TV along with gas log fireplaces - perfect places to curl up for movie night or enjoy the big game!
App A-Frame is located on two private acres that have just enough room to explore the surrounding woods, play a game of corn hole or enjoy an evening around the fire.

LOCATION
Sugar Grove is a quiet, quaint community just outside Valle Crucis and no more than 20 minutes from Downtown Boone and Appalachian State. Our cabin sits at 3,000 feet elevation and is very private with a sweet secluded feel, all while being in close proximity to dining options as well as fun day trip excursions.
The cabin is a short 15 minute drive into Valle Crucis, home of the original Mast General Store, Valle Crucis Community Park and our favorite restaurant Over Yonder.
Banner Elk is also just 15 minutes away and it takes only 20 minutes to get to Appalachian State University Campus if you are in town to cheer on The Mountaineers. Family fun in Blowing Rock like Tweetsie Railroad and High Gravity are slightly farther out at just under 30 minutes.
If you feel like taking a field trip the house is conveniently located to many outdoor attractions. We are just a 6 minute drive away from Watauga River Gorge Park for tubing, fishing or swimming. Watauga Lake is a half hour away for a fun day trip filled with more water sports, picnics or hiking and horseback riding through Cherokee National Forest. Snow skiing and snow tubing are within a 30 minute drive at Beech & Sugar Mountain.
